How it works

Hold. Ask. Listen.

Your child holds the one button and asks out loud. Puck answers in a sentence or two, in words that fit their age, then goes quiet. Some questions it hands straight to you.

“Why is the moon out in the daytime?”

Puck

“Because the moon is up in the sky during the day too. It’s just fainter than the sun, so you can often spot it in the morning.”

A sentence or two, in words that fit your child’s age.

“Tell me a joke about dinosaurs!”

Puck

“What do you call a sleeping dinosaur? A dino-snore!”

Jokes, riddles and stories, all out loud.

“Where do babies come from?”

Puck

“That’s a great question for a grown-up. Try asking someone at home!”

Questions like this go to you in the parent app instead.

What kids use it for

One button. Lots of uses.

  • Answers any question“Why do cats purr?”
  • Looks things up, kid-safe“Who won the soccer game last night?”

For parents

You can read every question.

Keep up with their curiosity without hovering. See what they wondered about today, then talk about it at dinner.

  • Every question, with the time it was asked

Including the ones Puck handed to you. Text history is your choice: turn it on to read your child’s exact words, and switch it off any time.

  • Big questions come to you

Questions about bodies, death or violence aren’t answered. Puck tells your child to ask a grown-up, and flags the question for you.

  • Backup, not a replacement

Puck takes the hundredth question of the day, so you get the big ones.

Where Puck is today

Real hardware, built one step at a time.

Puck is an independent project. We design the hardware and the safety rules ourselves, and we’re starting small: a few families will test pilot units at home before the first batch ships.

Questions

What parents ask us.

How much will Puck cost?

We haven’t set the final price yet. Founding families will hear it first, along with their discount, and joining doesn’t commit you to buying anything.

When will it ship?

We’re building pilot units now, and a few founding families will test them at home first. Founding families get Puck from the first batch.

What happens after I join?

We’ll email you when founding orders open. If you asked to test a pilot unit, we may write about that first. We’ll only ever email you about Puck.

What ages is it for?

Ages 5 to 13. Answers adjust to the age of the child asking: a short sentence for a five-year-old, a fuller explanation for an older child.

Is it always listening?

No. The microphone is on only while your child holds the button, and the light ring brightens while it’s listening. There’s no wake word.

Does it keep recordings of my child’s voice?

No. Speech is turned into text to answer the question, and the audio isn’t kept unless you choose to share it.

How do you keep answers safe?

Every answer is written for a child, with nothing adult, violent, romantic or political. Questions about bodies, death or violence aren’t answered: Puck says it’s a good question for a grown-up, and you see it in the app. Searches use kid-safe filters.

Will my child get attached to it?

It’s built not to encourage that. Puck is honest that it’s an AI, never pretends to have feelings, and points your child back to you for the big things.

How is it different from Alexa or a smart speaker?

Puck listens only while the button is held, every answer is written for kids, and you can see every question. There’s no screen, no camera and no ads.

What do I need at home?

Wi-Fi, a power outlet, and the parent app on your phone.

Who’s behind Puck?
